RG (General Registry) Validator for Legacy Systems

ℹ️ How RG Validation Works

The RG (General Registry) does not have a single national validation algorithm like the CPF. Each state had its own format and calculation rules. This tool validates against the formats of São Paulo (SSP-SP) and Rio de Janeiro (IFP-RJ), which are common in legacy systems.

  • SSP-SP: Uses a 9-digit format (8 digits + 1 check digit). The check digit is calculated using a weighted sum of the preceding digits (Module 11). The check digit can be a number from 0-9 or 'X'.
  • IFP-RJ: Uses a 7-digit format without a specific check digit algorithm. Validation is based on structural rules, such as length and not starting with zero.

⚠️ End of RG Issuance and Start of CIN

Identification agencies across the country are now required to adopt the National Identity Card (CIN) as the new identification standard. The old RG model is no longer issued.
